Ali and Dan Smith on Andy Kerr

Appetizers with Andy
By Ali and Dan Smith

Dan and I went to Appetizers with Andy at Kobe An last Thursday. While there, I asked Andy if he supported Attorney General John Suthers’ lawsuit against the unconstitutional takeover of our health care system. Andy stated that from my question, he knew what my stand was. When I pressed him for an answer, he replied he did not support our A.G. John Suthers’ lawsuit. I expressed my disappointment to Andy that he does not support A.G. Suthers efforts to protect the Constitutional rights of Coloradoans.
My next question for Andy was whether he is part of a group of Democrat legislators seeking to defund A.G. Suthers’ lawsuit. Andy stated that he is not part of such an effort. It will be interesting to keep a close eye on whether Andy changes his mind on that issue.

Denver Tax Day Tea Party
on 22-04-2010 14:52

DENVER TAX DAY TEA PARTY 4/15/2010

I was very nervous at the beginning of the tea party, because I thought I wasn't going to be able to speak, but in the end, it worked out great.  The board of directors from hearus-now.org interviewed me a few months ago because they wanted to know more about me and what I stand for.  At the end of the interview, I was chosen as one of their top 5 candidates in the state of Colorado.  What an honor!  Hearus-now.org were the ones who organized the tea party, and it was incredible.  I wasn't able to attend last years’ event due to my travels in Jackson Wyoming, but this year I was honored to be a featured speaker.  It was extremely tiring and stressful to prepare for the tea party, but all the hard work was well worth it. I wanted to make sure that I clearly spoke what I felt and what I truly believed.  I placed myself in your shoes, and I wrote my speech accordingly.  It’s not about me, it’s all about you, and I want to return the power government has wrongfully taken from you: the power that rightfully belongs to you.  In the end, the speech was a great success.

While I enjoyed speaking in front of so many great Americans, the highlight of the day for me was when I just walked on stage.  In front of thousands of people, I smiled and opened a copy of the CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES!!!  Never in my life had I seen such a reaction.  The people applauded and cheered, not for me, but for what the Constitution stands for.  It stands for freedom, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness: ideals that government should never hinder or impede.  If anything, the purpose of my speech was to show my fellow Americans how boldly and firmly I stand for what our country was founded upon.  I will have the speech posted soon on my site.  Thank you again for allowing me the honor and privilege to run as your representative.  And thank you also for the opportunity to serve you.  The tax day tea party was amazing and a great success and it was an experience I will not soon forget.

It is our God Given right to be able to protest anything we want so long as it is done peacefully!!  Every time I hear a protest, I am reminded of how thankful I am to the founding fathers for protecting that right and other.  I'll make sure I never take away your freedom, or violate the sacred laws of the Constitution like some current politicians are.

Lakewood Sentinel Article

LAKEWOOD SENTINEL ARTICLE:

I want to personally thank Ryan Parker of the Lakewood Sentinel for
taking interest in my campaign.  In the March 24th edition, Ryan
published an article letting people know who I am.  Entitled
"Barrington to take on incubmnat Kerr" on the third page of the paper
and across from the Dems Caucus turnout dissapointing article.  WOW, I
never thought I would be able to get my message out, and I did.

Ryan interviewed me at our favorite place to meet Wystones Tea House.
He was very true to the interview and used my quotes very accurately.
Ryan has great aspirations to provide the public with facts.  Thank
you Ryan and the Lakewood Sentinel for giving me the opportunity to
 provide my message.

Politics in Minnesota
on 07-04-2010 08:30

POLITICS IN MINNESOTA
This is worth talking about because a) I want you to know about the
good happening there and b) this is the UNITED State of America, being
unitied involved being informed.  Some background: I am incredibly
Disgusted with the fact that Al Franken is a United States senator
from Minnesota.  I feel he was unethical.  I found out that over
13,000 military votes were not counted in the last election, so Norm
 Colman should have won.
A good friend of our campaign, Kristi Mckewon, spent this past
Saturday morning in her local party precinct meeting.  She told me
over 200 people showed up to vote up the candidates who will
represent the party in the next election.  The state of Minnesota is
in worse  condition than Colorado, and they need good leadership to
 rise up.
People there are just as furious as they are here.  The Vikings
football team has told the state they only have 22 home games left
before they move if they don't get a stadium.  It's devastating to
think about what that would do to the city.
Overall this was a fun trip away from Colorado, but I'm glad to be
back and ready to serve you.

Thoughts from a conversation with a soldier
on 07-04-2010 08:27

THOUGHTS FROM A CONVERSATION WITH A SOLDIER

Flying home from Minneapolis last weekend, I had the great honor of

sitting next to a member of the 101st Airborne.  It was incredible to

hear Army man talking about coming back from one tour of duty but

heading back out again, this time to Afghanistan.

He told me that it seems like we are needed more in Afghanistan than

in Iraq.  When I asked why, he said that Iraq is rebuilding

and beginning to grow into a new country and our job is almost done.

I was impressed with the stories he told of how U.S. Military is involved in the different communities and how people look to the US for leadership.

What I appreciated more than his perspective of current events was his

passion.  Wow!  This man was so passionate about keeping the U.S.

safe; he is willing to give up time from his family to serve you and I.

Like this soldier, my goal is to serve with passion.

DEFINE POLITICS
on 18-03-2010 17:55

DEFINE POLITICS:

Webster’s dictionary defines Politics as " art and science of government, public life and affairs, activities concerned with seeking power."

I, on the other hand, view politics differently.  To me, politics is opportunity to serve the people of these United States.  I believe that a politician should zealously uphold the fundamental laws of this country and the laws of this state, Colorado, and every politician should be held accountable for the actions that they put into practice.

I think that a lot of our current lawmakers have lost what it means to be a servant. I believe many politicians are working to serve themselves, and to increase the size of their own wallets, rather than serve the people that elected them.  Ideals like honor, integrity, and honesty are almost nonexistent in modern politics.  I hope to change that.  Its time that American’s step up and face the bureaucracy and charade politics have become.  Right now, its not about democrats versus republicans, its about going back to the grass roots of what made this country great.  Politics need and must have a serving heart.  They must want and love to serve the great people of this country.  I want, and would love to serve the people of this great country: democrats and republicans.

Upholding the laws we create are vital to a successful government.  Right now, lawmakers are guilty of putting themselves first, before the people that elected them in the first place.  When you elect me I will never make promises I can't keep.  Honesty is a value that I hold dearly.

IMPORTANCE OF CAUCUS MEETINGS
on 11-03-2010 09:35

IMPORTANCE OF CAUCUS MEETINGS:

You are the ones who train other citizens to what the regulations are on
voting day - what you can and can't do. You are the ones who
determine what are your bi-laws and who your candidates.

These are so important and we need your help. I have been to a few of our
local meetings, and we have a good turn out, but it could be better. Get
plugged in, understand the process of how to be elected, and who your
candidates are.

One of my goals as your candidate is to educate you, the voter on issues
like this. They are fun meetings and you can learn a lot. They are
usually held once a month, and there is an area coordinator who will
see the dates. I look forward to seeing you all soon at our meeting!

JOB CREATION
on 11-03-2010 09:34

JOB CREATION:

Lower taxes, bring in new companies, free up the regulations on small
business to gain new loans to expand.

I once heard a statistic that over 70% of our tax revenue comes from
small business. It is the back bone of our economy. The way I see it,
if small business in your local community can't get loans to expand,
they cannot thrive. Any business that isn’t thriving, are by
definition dying. I don't want that.

My objective is to bring forth larger incentives to these business to
create jobs. I also want to see the energy laws loosened so we can
bring back energy jobs in our state in stead of sending them to
Wyoming and
Utah. I would like to see incentives for the film industry brought
here to Colorado. If we bring the film industry to Colorado, you
would see a ripple effect of small business contracts to the film
industry.

Overall, job creation is very important, let's keep the taxes low and
sell our state to companies across America to make this their home.

BUDGET
on 11-03-2010 09:33

BUDGET:

Does money grow on trees? I know it does, I've seen it. Wait, Wait a
second nah, only if you live in fairy tale land, or rob a bank, or are the
current administration of Obama, and Ritter.

HOW DO WE BALANCE THE BUDGET? That is the million dollar question
everyone is asking me.

ANSWER: First, we evaluate all the current divisions and employees we
have to find out where there is overlap and cut them. Many see this
as harsh. Well, when expense exceeds revenue, you need to make those
hard decisions.

Second, we are held accountable to the citizens. Prioritize where our
money is going and report where that green stuff ends up to the people
on a regular basis.

Third and final, we quit spending.

This may not be the answer many want to hear, but the reality is that
under our current leadership, the future generation will be the one
who suffers and must to pay for all this spending. Not the legacy I
want to leave.
